IIMGP Career Day @ Chung Hwa School

One of the events of Career Day is a task which the students are required to build a bridge. Very similar to the one I built during stress management class. Each group consists of 8-9 students and assigned to one mentor. Everyone is excited and motivated to complete their bridge.

Students were given 45 mins for the design and constructions (Only 20 mins for us last time). The task is to train the students on time management, cost management, engineering design (study the straw) and leadership. Students were evaluated by the strength of the bridge and aspects just mentioned.

This is the strongest bridge of all. Capable of enduring 5 bags of coins. However, this team didnt win the design. Infact, they are second.

Another "table" bridge built by the students. This design is not in the top three but it do shows the innovation design by the fellow students.

Winner of the competition and fellow volunteers. They win because their design can support 5 bags of coins but using less straws and clips than others. Bravo. They even think about the strategy of putting the coins on the bridge. They place all the coins onto the bridge before they let go their hands. Good strategy for winning or nothing.

Here is one of the system on showcase. This is what I do day in day out. Designing the green piece of plastic (in layman's term).

Halloween Kit Kat from US @ Office

SY has been very thoughtful and brought back a bag of candies from US for us in the office. Most of it is snickers whereby we dare not eat due to the China Milk contaminated with Melamine incident. I am one of the lucky ones whom got this Halloween version of kit kat. I have not seen this sold in Malaysia before.

It is orange in colour but taste exactly the same as the white version. The one with white chocolate. It tasted quite good. I wanted to bring one home, but when I return to take one more, it is out of stock.

Halloween Kit Kat safe to consume as it is made in USA by The Hershey Company. Do notice the orange colour kit kat.

Breakfast @ Eng Loh Restaurant, Church Street

Eng Loh Restaurant (Green building) at Church Street, George Town.

Here is famous for Breakfast breads and sets. Per recommendations, Roti Taiwan seems to be the best. Please be warned, share with a friend or two, else you will be too full to try other nice food here. Other breakfast sets also shown in above picture.

This is roti taiwan. Toast bread with generous portion of peanut butter and sprinkle with peanut chunks. A must-try here.

Soupy sui kau which has prawns in it.

Cheese omelette. Frankly this is so-so only.

A shot inside the coffee shop.

Saturday BBQ @ Benji's House

Team work design game @ Stress Management Class

Designing and constructing this model here to be a bridge would look funny. With this bridge model, it looks like an art class rather than stress management. I personally think it looks like a dog, horse or anything four legged.

Well, this is an outcome of a task to build a bridge 6" x 6" which can holds two weigths (roughly 500grams each) with an observation deck and a flag pole on top of the deck. We were given 20 minutes and 20 straws plus masking tape to start with.

At the end of the day, though this doesn't looks like any bridge at all, it met all its requirements. Hooray. Only 2 teams managed to complete all the requirements out of 4. Of course, the bridge was constructed with engineering mind and studies of strength of straws and weakness of it. But I dont think anyone is interested in it.

Hard to believe? Believed it.

P/S: We are going to do the same at IIMGP (secret acronym) for Chung Hwa Secondary School next friday.

Weekend Dinner @ Home

V cooked chicken curry with spices from local market, chicken from Ipoh and potatoes from Tesco. Looks good and tasted even better.

Stir-fry french beans which is a little raw. I like it fully cooked.

Sambal belacan stir-fry kangkung with dried prawns. A favourite local malaysian dish.

Inspirational yet cute

Ask and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seek finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

That's the god promises to us. The plush doll praying here is named "Hope" from Ty (tee-why). Do notice the reflection on the table.

Char Koay Teow and more @ Lorong Selamat, Penang

Restaurant along Lorong Selamat which houses the famous char koay teow in Penang. They shifted slightly to the left store. See the auntie frying koay teow?

Oyster with egg ordered from the original fried koay teow store. It is allowed to order other foods (except koay teow and drinks) from the other store.

Nowadays Loh Bak really went into a big business. This is a queue card. It has an advertisement on it saying that they serve for events too.

The loh bak and the prawn fritters we ordered. This tasted good.

Of course, last but not least, the char koay teow. It costs RM6 a plate now. The auntie don't allow us to take-away somemore. I think we waited for close to an hour for this koay teow. No doubt it tasted good, but I am wondering is it worth for the wait?

Outdated Moon Cake Post @ Dragon-i

Yeah, it is outdated but I thought of posting it. Here is the mooncake from Dragon-i. I am an Ipoh boy (man?), Ipoh is a city whereby chinese are a big part of its population. Hence, there are many good chinese food around. I never thought it would be better than those Foh San and Oversea Restaurant's moon cake. The sweetness is just nice and you don't feel bloated after eating even a whole moon cake (on me at least).

The moon cake in this picture is Hong Kong white lotus paste. V and I like this mooncake, the other normal lotus mooncake not so nice compared to this. The price is a little higher than others' but I feel it is worth it. Worth to buy this next mooncake festival.

Lunch @ Giant Restaurant, Sunway Tunas, Penang

I came across this Giant Restaurant when driving around Sunway Tunas during lunch time. We feel like trying something new, so we step into this restaurant. It looks like normal restaurant, but the glass, cutteries and bowls here are bigger than usual. Guess that's the reason they call themselves Giant restaurant.

This restaurant located along Persiaran Mahsuri 1/1, same row as Ben's Diner.

The glass of drink is 70% length of a chopstick. I like this kind of drink size. Full of ice which helps to battle the hot weather.

I ordered the Fried Longevity Noodle with chicken (Sang Mien in Cantonese). It tasted okay, better than many shops around here.

While V ordered Wan Tan Noodles. According to her, the Wan Tan Noodle not that tasty.

Last but not least is the appetizer we ordered. Fried wan tan. This is tasty. I recommend this place for drinks and snacks. The large drink will last long enough for you and your friend's long hour of chit chat.

Teppanyaki @ Yaki Teppan, Sg. Nibong, Penang

Yaki Teppan is a new place I enjoy going recently. The price of the food is reasonable (slightly cheap actually) yet the food tasted good.
Last picture is the dessert. So far I only tasted chocolate ice cream and this jelly dessert after 4 visits. The dessert comes with the set meal.

The set meal comes with appetizer (fried dumpling & cabbage, carrot in thousand island dressing) miso soup, garlic fried rice and main course (depending on what you chosen). If you choose to dine on set of the day, you will be given complimentary fruit juice as well.

Above picture taken are teppanyaki vege with sesame chicken.

This set is salmon fish, squid and chicken. All set comes with teppanyaki vege (onions, cabbage, bean sprout). Pricing for teppanyaki starts sub RM10 so it is pretty worth it.

Just sharing some snaps

Sea shell snaps along the seaside. Taken with camera almost touching the ground.

A "lonely" boat sitting on the shore during low tide. This is a fisherman boat. Too bad the sky isn't red today. Else it will have a much better effect.

Lotus flower taken with macro add-on converter.

Focusing rope on the beach. I started to like pictures taken from low level. It gives a different viewing dimension.
